Jump box

I need a portable 6 volt jump box, not one that has to be plugged into the wall. Can't find one. If they don't exist how can I reduce a 12 volt unit to 6 volt?

I've always used 12 volt Jump Boxes on 6 volt cars. They actually work better. Just make damn sure everything else is shut off (especially the radio if you have one). Ask me how I know.

Look farther down on the post. You will see a post on jump box. They got me straightened out on it. Tom...

Same here - except for the alleged radio incident.

I'm sorry. I started a thread on the Model A site and not here. Civilwarlife, if you go and look it up there are some great answers.

12v. works quite well as a few others have advised. Yes, be certain radio is off.
Disconnect promptly after starting engine.

Kube, would it be wise to just unhook one side of the battery to make sure nothing gets fried while using the 12- volt jump box?

Not necessary. Just be sure lights, radio are in the "off" position.
And just to be clear, you hook it up positive to positive, negative to negative. Regardless of the fact the car is positive ground.

Oil and fuel senders, and even dome light if after it starts you quick open the door to get out to disconnect. Make an inexpensive 6 volt jump box with a 6 volt rebuilt battery from the nearby battery rebuild shop.

I have used 12v numerous times to jump the 6v system over the past decades and have NEVER, not even once had the slightest issue.

I have too many times but be careful. This summer things went sideways for me and "KABOOM". Acid all over the place but luckily no serious injuries but had to do some repainting and buy a new battery.
