Julianano's top kit

Has anyone have any actual experience installing one of these kits? I read the directions over several times and they don't seem unusually complicated but I also know there is always a huge gap between "directions" and the actual installing. If you are not familiar with the kit this is the web site: http://www.parts123.com/parts123/yb.dll?parta~partsort

Comments on the kit?

Thanks

I have not installed one of these kits myself, but I have seen them on cars and I am not impressed. They look arkward and the LeBaron-Bonney kit which I have installed looks good and is easy to install. JMO

Got seat belts from Julianano's couple of years ago and took their recommendation as to size. They were too short but since I'd opened the package (duh) they wouldn't exchange them.

I told them we'd just chalk this up to bad public relations.

Let me try to answer a couple of comments. I would never think of installing a Juliano top on anything that I was attempting to keep original. My interest now is trying to cover a "less-than perfect" steel insert that some previous owner installed rather than fix the insert. I have looked everything over very closely and it would be impossible to undo this back-woods repair and have things look normal, Obviously, I am not happy with the situation. Then I got to thinking that possibly a top kit like Juliano's might be an answer. That's why the inquiry.

Making a recommendation for a products use is difficult if you do not state the intended application or provide a picture for reference.

The Juliano top kit has been on the market for a number years as an alternative kit to an original top insert. Depending on the vehicle it provides all the necessary material to enclose an open roof auto and is secured via an aluminum tack rail covered in vynil for a leak proof seal. It is not marketed as a factory stock replacement.

These kits can be adapted to a number of open top style cars. If you have an early ford prior to 1935 they work well if you do not have the original tack strips and are not 100% show judge oriented. Since your sign in is a 35, it is the assumption that this is your application, your top kit does not require the metal tack strip and the roof seal is completed with a heavy rubber inset seal. In this case the Juliano kit will work and provide the necessary material to cover the opening but you will still need to purchase the correct roof seal material to lock the cloth in place. My suggestion is to call for information and inquire about a kit less the aluminum track and then do a comparison between company offerings.

I see that you were adding to your post while I was typing. Since you need to fix up a damaged roof this kit would be a very good remedy to the issue.

I agree with Dick Spadaro comment. Additionally I say that hot rodders can use whatever they want regardless of the anal restorer mentality guys who are afraid to use anything not as it came from factory. Both are functional. Both are good.
