Juice Brake conversion, Only one flex line in the rear???

I'm converting my 35 to juice brakes via 39 master and 40 drums. I re ran the hard lines the same as what was on the 40 rear end when I got it. Ran hard line from the wheel cylinders down both radius rods (40) then jumped over to one side to hit the juction, then went to a flex line (one side into the junction and the other side is mounted to a tab on the torque tube.

My question is the flex line seems pretty rigid to the torque tube, so it is just hardline from there that tab to the master. Is that the only flex line i need between the rear wheels and the master? Every pic or breakdown I find I can't see if its flex or hard line after that and it just seems too rigid or maybe it's fine.

Thanks Kevin

one flex line in rear- Your set up will work, however you can run each wheel cyl. line across each rear axle tube- connect to the "T" fitting- then flex hose to hard line to master cyl. with out running the two lines up your radius rods. if its an open wheel car it s a clean look. juice on.

Hard to follow your written description, but it doesn't sound right.

The hard lines should come together at the junction on the left radius rod. The flex hose goes from the T junction to the FRAME not the torque tube. Then hard line from the frame end of the flexy to the T on the master cylinder. The other side of that T goes to the front.

This is all if you are emulating the 40.

The flexy is short because it doesn't need a lot of "give" up at the front of the axle/torque tube assembly as there is less and less movement the further forward you go.

Mart.

One flex hose up at the X member. A hard line back to rear and a "T" with a line to each rear wheel. I would make the lines from the "T" to the wheels the same lengths.
Look at some ones 39 the frames are about the same. Make sure you double flare all hard
lines. G.M.

Picture worth a thousand words? Hope so... here is a shot of my 35 Ford Coupe juice conversion

Here's the stock brake lines on a 40 DeLuxe. Maybe it will help.

A few more photos. This is all OEM original except for the 39 Lincoln backing plates and Bendix brakes.

This may also help. Shown are 1946-48 and 1940 brake line layout. Taken from book shown and BIG GREEN BOOK. As you can see, there is no flex line at the rear. the only flex line is near the wishbone at the "X" member.. Click on pic to enlarge.

:D This pic answers my question perfectly! Someone ran my brake hose through the hole where the cables should go and I just copied it! That's why it didn't make sense, because it was just rigid to the torque tube and doesnt go to the frame. HA!

Thanks Everyone!

if you place the mounting on the chassis rear of the tourque tube mount you can move the rear end back for gearbox work or clutch work with out bleading the fluid again
