Judging Standards Question

Sounds like they were painted green or black or not at all. Keep in mind in any game whether it be football, baseball or blue ribbon judging there is a rule book. In our case the Judging Standards is the rule book. It makes no differences whether you personally agree or disagree with the rule book. If you play the game you MUST abide by the rule book and in this case the rule book states green so paint it green if you want full points. It is really that simple, right or wrong the rules are in the Judging Standards and remain "correct" until they are changed. Just my thoughts.

:rolleyes:Well Hello Arlyn ,Hows the west coast? are we making Hershey this year:confused: I remember seeing a picture of a line of clutch housing headed somewhere either to get painted or ? The brake/clutch shaft was on at that point and not the shaft for the clutch arm. In all honesty i went to the shed tonite and pulled out 2 other clutch housing #1 from a low mile car April 1930 coupe 13,000 [Black painted clutch shaft arm and end of shaft].#2- June 1930- 58,000 mile car [Green painted clutch shaft arm and end of shaft]. #3 on a 29,000 Nov 1929 build for Jan 1930 car [naked, no paint like Dave L. car]. I think the arm was painted black with pin then the shaft slid into clutch housing and fork pinned onto shaft.:p

Thank you all for your response. It was all very interesting and I appreciate your efforts. However, the original question was have the Judging Standards been revised since the 1997 issue concerning the color of the clutch release shaft lever. What I think I am hearing from the various responses is that the only place they are painted green is on a restored car. I don't really care about a rule book as I am not into blue ribbon judging, I just want to know what was original and correct according to Henry. Hopefully the Judging Standards would tell me that.
