Judging Standards missing pages??

I just purchased and received my new copy of the judging standards from MAFCA. I assembled the pages into the binder but there are no pages for the "Cabriolets" tab. Did I get short changed or are there no pages prepared for that section yet.

The index did not get updated I called the and spoke to the guy on the committee and he said it was an oversite.

If that is the case, then here is what MARC and MAFCA should do...print up a new index for the new revision, then put it on their websites for all to print it out and have it...plain and simple!

I ordered the total package since this is my first copy of the standards manual. I will call them later this week to find out if there are pages for insertion after the Cabriolets tab. I think Pluck's suggestion about the index is a good cost effective suggestion to get the revised index out to those who purchased the new manual of latest updates.

As it currently stands per the previous rev 2 (1997) and the current rev 3 (2011) there is NO Cabriolet section. Specifically, there were and are only six supplement sections A, B, C, D, E, and F for specific body styles. There may be a Cabriolet section planned for some future revision, but that would be up to the Publications Committee of both clubs to determine. Look at the Table of Contents provided with Rev 3, if yours lists a Cabriolet section then your is only 1 of 6000 that does.

frank55A, you are correct in stating that the existence Cabriolets tab is not listed on the table of contents page.

I received the following response from MAFCA.

"Hello Mr. Winans,

The updates for the Cabriolet section will be provided at a later date. It was cost effective to order all the tabs at one time.

Sincerely,
Brenda
MAFCA"

There was no comment related to the missing index pages which mentioned.

It was a real bear trying to update with no guide to say which pages come out and which ones are replaced, etc. Added to that the missing index:confused:

We also ordered a full set of the JS. Ours has a Cabriolet tab - presumably Appendix G - but it isn't listed in the Table of Contents (what index???) and no pages were sent for this tab. I called the MAFCA office and got the same answer as supergnat.

The Cabriolet will be included in the next Revision to the Restoration Guidelines. The Tab was printed at the same time as the other tabs in order to keep the cost down. Printing a single tab would be much more expensive. A note to that effect should have been included.

Both club realize the index is missing. One has been created and is being reviewed. It will be available on both club's websites soon. A printed index will be included in the next revision.

I suppose something should have been said just due to the fact that the old sections should be retained by anyone involved in judging as the new version has not been used yet. However other than that it's pretty simple. The new Area-1 replaces the old Area-1, etc. Each section you received is complete.

I put the old sections in the back of the guide book. I always did the same for changes to my flight manuals. Sometimes it is very helpful to reach back to see what the old version said.
