Jim Brierley update

Hello again, Larry and I went out to Hemet to see Jim late yesterday
afternoon. He was watching TV sitting in a chair waiting for dinner to
be served. We had talked to Larry Madole at the the 4E4 meeting and he
said he was coming out too. We barely beat him in the door! Jim is
really coming along, he was exercising his right arm and was happy to
have company. Don Lindeman, Joe Lantieri and Chuck Sharp were there
during the week too. He is continuing with the therapy and will be
going to see the heart doctor on Tuesday. He has been working to get
the strength in his legs so he is able to get in the car as Kathy is
taking him to the appointment. He would really like to get out of the
rehab facility, but really needs to be patient and use all of the days
he is alloted by his insurance. They will come to the house but he
gets exercised 2 times each day minimal in rehab, and proably only 2-3
times a week if he is home. He is getting more confident in what he is
able to do now I think, it's good. He was happy we were there and
talking, his voice is getting much stronger.Keep the thoughts and
prayers coming, they mean alot.

Gary,

Thanks for the update on Jim's progress. Like you said, we all want him back on the road, but he needs to work with the rehab folks to get his strength back. I'm sure it seems like a slow difficult process to him, but we are all pulling for him.

good news, JimB is possibly being released on Mon! The rehab facility feels he is doing good enough that he can go home and continue working out with a travelling trainer and occupational therapist. Dave Bowman and their son Mike are coming over to add some grab bars etc.His appt at the cardiologist this week was really good, his heart is good and he doesn't want to see him back until the end of Jan 2014.The trainer worked with him before his appt with doctor to teach him how to get in and out of the car. He was able to walk 60 feet today, which is really good. The arm is going to take some real work, but he knows it!

Very good news - Jim's home for Christmas.

Merry Christmas to all! JimB made it home today, Kathy called the company that was to delivery his equipment and they told her it was being delivered to the hospital, not to the house. go figure, she called and rented a scooter for a month and had the guy drive it up the ramp at their front door with success. She found out he was to be released sometime today so things were falling into place. He called and said he made it home for dinner. The red scooter worked great getting him into the house. He can be reached at their home number, and I know he would enjoy a call when you have time. It will be a while before he is on line so hold off on that. It looks like the thoughts and prayers are still working, so don't stop now!

Yesterday we went down to Temecula to visit Jim and Kathy. I had leftover and said we would be down to visit. Kathy had bought a rebumbent exercise bike for Jim to exercise his legs. Kathy, Lar and I put it together while Jim looked on and gave us a clue here and there. We ended up with no spare parts so we felt a job well done. Jim was in the Lazy Boy looking better than ever. He is walking down the hall with the one-handed walker, going out to church, looking forward to using the bike. He sat most of the day in his wheel chair so he wouldn't miss anything while we were assembling the bike.Once the holidays are over he will start again with physical therapy at home until it runs out. Sh said her insurance provides free Gym membership so she said she plans to check it out and probably sign them both up.I said to check out the local senior center too, as they also have exercise equipment and a trainer to show you the ropes. The hours are limited at the center so the gym would probably work out better and with more equipment and longer hours. If you get a chance give him a call at 951-695-3713 I know he would love to hear from you. More later keep them in your thought, hugs.
