Jim Brierley cam

A friend in Montrose, CO passed away recently. To help the family prepare to move, I bought the workshop contents. Buried in one of the boxes is a Jim Brierley camshaft that was still in its original package and never installed. The markings on the cardboard tube indicate that it is a M-58 grind which my searches show may be a fairly aggressive cam intended for performance versus street manners.

Does anyone have any info on this cam/grind? I hope to sell the cam to someone that can use it. Are there any other sites that might have equal or more interest in this type of cam?

My M-58 is a good touring grind for an OHV engine, Miller and others. It is not radical but performs very well, even on hill climbs. Set valves at: In, .010"; Exh at .015"

Thanks for your reply. The fellow that passed was Bob Evans (Bullet Bob) from Montrose, Colorado. He passed quite suddenly in early February of this year. I knew him from a Mustang group but often talked about his work with flatheads and he was working on a new two-piece head design at the time of his passing.

Glad to know that google AI was wrong about the cam - as they often are. I'll post it in the swap meet section in a few days.

What was the man's name from Colorado that made a bunch of two-piece Banger heads, ...all on a J-head Bridgeport? I have one of his heads for a future speedster build. I first met him about 20-25 years ago in Texas when he bought a single-stick Hal head from me to copy in alloy. Pretty sure he was a machinist for Boeing at one time. I can see his face but cannot think of his name. Did he by chance make the head that 'Bullet Bob' had??

Which two piece Model A head are you talking about? The two piece Riley F-Head copy or something else?

I have a norm Frick McDowell head , bought it 10 years ago , put it on G28T block , recently fired it up ,All set to go in a 30 sort coupe , Its the 8 plug cross flow , it will run single weber till run in then looks like couple of 45 webers i been inching to run , Might need a special JB cam ??? Headed to Meet in Sonora for this week end then up too Pendleton meet,Have suit case full of the new carbon fiber fan assemblies to have on show at the meet ,most pre ordered ,was concerned about customs ,no problem just replacement fans for trumpies drones was the answer if asked ????

Jim, How would the M-58 cam work on a flathead? My understanding is the cams for overhead heads have less lift because of the mechanical amplification at the rockers.
