I just bought a repro Jewel/High Beam Lamp for my 41 truck (I had an empty dash hole). I have no idea how it's mounted or illuminated since none of that came with it. Can someone enlighten me?
Bob Drake has the High Beam Jewel Socket and Wire for your truck.
The Bob Drake High Beam Jewel Socket and Wire is listed as 1938-40 car AND 40-47 pickup. I cannot verify that but it is what it is.
If it helps, here is a photo of the OEM 1940 car jewel light. The little jewel with the chrome bezel drops in the dash hole and the rear metal piece with the bulb literally slides on the backside of the jewel and holds everything in place On the left end of the metal piece there is also a little metal rectangular shaped cap that fits over the end of the unit where the bulb fits.
The pickup truck is configured differently.
Gee, I would have thought Henry would make them the same to save money.
Thanks, "Kube".
Trucks always got the leftover parts as needed and until their used up. That is saving money and why our trucks have so much in-consistency.Gee, I would have thought Henry would make them the same to save money.
The Drake item works. I bought one and tried it on my truck. If you slide it over the jewel, then towards the top of the dash, the curve of the dash tightens the metal strap in place. It may not be correct as an original, but it does work.
