I've never seen anything like this

Went out today to start my A after nearly a year. It was running a little rough which is unusual so I opened the hood to see what I could. As I looked at the exhaust manifold I saw occasional sparks occurring randomly along the top of the manifold.--tiny sparks from one end of the manifold to the other. I looked closely and could not see any source .As I played with the adjustments the roughness smoothed out but the tiny little sparks continued. Ive never seen anything like it in my 60+ years of owning model As

thats a good thought---the car wasn't dusty however and the hood is kept closed

Spider web? I can't think of anything that would result in both "sparks" and also cause rough running, other than perhaps electrical jumping from the distributor body to the head. But the head is not the manifold. I have seen sparks jumping from the leaking secondary coil wire to the distributor adjustment rod.

Roughness after not running for a year I can see - stale fuel in the carburetor maybe?

If it’s running good now, drive it.

Don’t fix something that’s might not be broken.

Enjoy.
