It Ain't that pretty but it works!

Ian, I believe it depends on how many amps it puts out and volts. What does your charger specify for output? That question would be better answered by someone else on the Ford Barn.

I used the same battery cables , looks fu nky but has worked great .
& Bob is correct optima batteries are AGM construction not gel cells as I stated earlier (I knew that but had a brain f@@t)
cheers
Tony
Good idea to lay it on its side...Did you have to lengthen the battery cables.
It is funny that the battery space is so shoe horned on the early fords.
In my 1933 the ford lead acid battery fits without a millimeter to spare.

Here's a shot of the "case" that I made for my Optma in my '34. I lowered the carrier by 3/4" to adjust for the extra height by remaking the original carrier mounting arms by 3/4".

Carguybill. Nice job! Looks like you used a Jig saw. (I like your engineering) Sorry to say I used an Hand saw to cut my 2X4"s, to lazy to get & hook up the circular saw. :-) Size of pictures to post, I beileve is 800x600 Pixs Max.
