I'm curious how to straighten the bars on a grill.any tips?
Can I clamp them with vice grips? Will they respond to heat?

My 41 has die cast. Several were cracked, and I believe broken out all together, and the previous owner has a bunch of goo all over the inside, looks like epoxy of some sort, but seems to be working. Steel would be easier to deal with I think

Deuce, thanks for the reply.its a nice solid 40.Im still in the planning stage of the restoration. She's been sitting in a field in Utah for 52 years.

That front hood chrome is 1941. The grille looks like aftermarket steel. If so, I made a die piece to hold inside the bars to help the straightening job on a similar Hot Rod grille. If it is cast I don't have any good suggestions.

They look like repro flat steel. Die cast could not bend as much as some of the teeth; they would break. If steel, take a flat nosed vice grip and straighten the teeth even hitting the teeth/vice grip with a hammer. Straightened a lot of 37 grills that way.

That's a repo stamped steel grille. It can be straightened. If you are lucky it could be one that was made in America.

Yes, otherwise somewhere on it, might say "Argentina"!! You're lucky if it is stamped either way!!:)
