Is this an employee ring from 1928?

Hi Im new to the site. I found this forum when I was trying to research a silver ring I bought through ebay, and you guys seem pretty knowledgeable so I thought you might be able to help. It is a solid silver ring which appears to show three men whom I believe to be Henry Ford and the Dodge brothers. It also says '25 years' so I think it is either from 1928 as a momentum from the 25th anniversary or perhaps it was given to an employee for 25 years of service. However I'm not sure of this as the Dodge brothers were not with Ford for very long. I bought it from an ebay dealer located in detroit who knows nothing about it other than he purchased it from a scrap metal trader. Thank you for any help, it would be greatly appreciated. I will uplaod a photo as soon as I can.

It sounds interesting. Can you post a picture?

One more thought about the three men, maybe it's Henry Ford, Harvey Firestone, and Thomas Edison, as they were all good friends.

It sounds like a service ring given out to employees on anniversaries, this one obviously for a 25th anniversary of service.

I wouldn't think John and Horace Dodge would be on a ring with Henry. I thought they had a less than pleasant parting of the ways.

Wouldn't that be Henry, Edsel, and Henry II just like on the 50th Anniversary memorabilia? If so, then the ring commemorates an employees 25 years of service, possibly coinciding with the 50th anniversary in 1953.

Definately Henry, Edsel & Henry11. The use of letters for Ford as opposed to Ford script also points to it being made after Henry's era, ie. late '40's to '50's.

i think the ring may be dangerous . you should send it to me for further inspection !

I have one of those rings. It definitly is a 25 year anniversary one. It has HENRY,EDSEL and HENRY11 on it.I retired in 2006 from ford with 43 years of service.Worked in the casting foundry.

I have that picture of henry, edsel, and henryII, by norman rockwell, in the same frame, as you have shown.....tho, it is a print put out in 1953, depicting the 50th anniversary of ford motor company..... also have an original wall calender depicting the same print and 50th......in the calender it also shows the coin with the 3 guys as mentioned....just to mention....

Thank you for all this great information and nice to hear your own experience Ray24. When I thought the ring was 1928 I didnt know who the men on it were (the features have been lost through polishing). I was researching the ring to make it easier to sell but now I think I'll keep it as it has an interesting history.

Similar design used on a Ford Motor Company, Germany Award

Here is a similar design used in a 2.75 inch tall award presented by the Ford Motor Company of Germany. Engraved along the top rim is: "25 JAHRE MIT FORD" (25 Years With Ford). Engraved on the back side of the award is: " Herrn Heinrich QXXXXX für 25 Jährige Mitarbeit in der Ford Organisation" (Mister Heinrich QXXXXX for 25 Years of Participation in the Ford Organization).

Other than that, there are no other markings or dates on this Ford award.

The design is based on a painting by Normal Rockwell painted in 1952 for the Ford Motor Company and is titled: "Portrait of Three Fords: William Clay Ford, Benson Ford and Henry Ford II". According to the Normal Rockwell Museum, the original was destroyed in a fire in 1970. The second attached photo is of the original painting provided by the Normal Rockwell Museum.

Fordially,
Brad in Maryland

This same Norman Rockwell picture is printed on the title page of the Ford Motor Company promotional book "Ford At Fifty, An American Story, 1903- 1953" published by Simon and Schuster, Inc. New York, copyright by FMC 1953. A neat book.
