Is this a '37 engine?

Hi guys,
I'm trying to determine what year my 21 stud is.
I was told it came out of a '34 coupe but it I think the heads are the only thing '34. They are stamped 40-6050-B. I believe they are cast and not Aluminum.
The block has block off plates where the later style pumps can be mounted and it has the vent tube located in the front right.
Anyways can anyone tell me exactly what I have to work with?

That looks like it has the raised intake area on the block. Did these early blocks have the raised intake?

Neat front engine mounts... What's it in? It's certainly a 37-early 38 as mentioned. Block pumps and a 21 bolt.

Those 32 front engine mounts would have needed to be notched for the fan belt if that ever ran with the 37 up water pumps.

Not normally, however, I have a 37 block with the raised intake face like the pictured engine, it [my one], doesn't have the core plugs in the pan rails either! Different from the norm, but typical of Ford; there always seems to be a variation somewhere out there.

I too have a '37 engine, or at least what i believe to be a '37 truck engine (as over here we had Ford Pilot '37 style engines well into the '50s..) although it has standard block mounted water pumps, and the heads originally on it were cast iron with firing order numbers on it. It too has a raised intake deck.

This is it now..

As I've always said, you will never live long enough to see something different on these flatheads, I've never seen a 37early 38 21stud with the raised intake, but it look like you've got one. Walt

Guy's;

Would 78 casting # indicate a Canadian
block?
'37 is before Canada started "C" casting blocks?
Anyone see 78 on known US blocks?
If the 78 has a 5/8" hole in the pan rail
of the left front squiggly depression that
should indicate "C" block -- plus
"raised" intake surface.

Thanks!
The whole car is a mix mash out of Colorado. Frame is (18-xxx) and is not original to the body. Apparently the engine came out of a '34 like 20 years ago. Im sure its been in a few cars even before then.

Canuck: Thanks,
Still check for that 5/8" hole in bottom of
the front depression. --With that raised int deck
you never know. Others have shown "C" blocks
having raised intake decks.
37-38 21 stud used 2.4" mains and flanged
rod bearings.
