Is there any difference between Model A gas tanks?

Is a 30/31 coupe or sedan gas tank the same as a roadster gas tank, the cowls are slightly different but are the tanks the same? I am in the process of reshaping a sedan cowl to fit a roadster and noticed a slight difference where the tank meets the cowl.

The tank are the same with one difference a late 31 tank with an indented fire wall fuel outlet comes straight out of the back instead of underneath, there is also a difference with the instrument panels earlier 30's have a 28 29 style dash and the later the thirty one. Other than that they are the same for fit and mounting.
Hope this helps.

I am finishing my A in my avatar, working on a Hemi powered 34 Ford and a month ago picked up a 30 roadster that needs all panels. The stantion area on the cowls were all tore up and the bottoms gone, I scrounged a nice sedan cowl for nothing so I am working on that. I think I am going the banger route, I have access to a B motor.

That sounds like fun so the tank isn't a huge concern. I have a restored 31 roadster but I have built a few street rods over the years, I always wanted to build a rat rod but I think I'm done building complete cars.

Rat Rod, whats a rat rod? I saw my first one at Hershey at the Good Guys event, it was built by a shop I believe in Texas, they ran a cross country race with it and may have even won if all of my memory serves me right. The suspension was professionally built and this car was safe to drive at high speeds. The reason it was called a RR was because the body was as found and chopped and slammed. Since then I have seen different degrees of RR's, safe ones too ones I would not sit in, but to say not built is not correct, some I have seen were amazingly crafted. I have never built one but I can appreciate ones that are well "built". I was at a show recently that had a late 70's car that was original and well kept, the older gentleman was sitting in his car as proud as could be, some would say it did not belong but I say cars are a hobbie that we all on here like, some people can build quality cars, some have the funds to have them built and some bring what they can afford but they all have a common goal, enjoying the hobby, when we loose sight of that why bother.

no6, If you found details in the tanks that somehow differ can you post photos? Someone here was collecting details on all the different A gas tanks. See you at Hershey! Bob

I did not find any details that I noticed but where the cowl meets the tank at the stantion the cowl was flatter on the sedan and curled around more on the roadster. Viva La Hershey!

Roadster and sedan cowl sheetmetal won't interchange, the door posts are totally different so is the cross bar under the windsheild. Firewall, toe kicks are the only bits that are the same on all 30-31 bodies. Bob

I know that, what I did was make the double beltline into one and am in the process of reshaping the area around the stantion.
