Is there a thicker radiator for an AA?

I have installed the radiator shell on the AA. It had a steel, painted commercial shell when I got it, put very pitted. I didn't notice a gap between the front of the shell and the radiator. I replaced that shell with a stainless commercial shell that I sandblasted and painted black. It and the old shell is the same thickness, but the new shell has about 1" of gap between the radiator and shell on the front. The shell mounting holes lined up perfectly. Input?

I have a very nice BB radiator if you need one. I think the core is the same as the AA, but the tanks are different.
If anyone knows for sure, I'd like to hear.

Gordon Smith Co of Bowling Green KY converted many Model As into air compressors 1932 to 1953. One of the factory's recommendations was that for heavy service, a truck radiator should be used.

If you have one of these consider joining the Smith Motor Compressor Club, $10 per year, non-profit, chartered by both MARC and MAFCA. Contact me, 270-842-2686, or dickandnancywebber@gmail.com
