Is the 40 grill original?

Weirdo

Junior Member
Hello, I’ve been working on my 40 pickup. Lots of bends in the front. I was wondering if this grill, I’m working on, is and original or a replica? I have a lot metal version as well. Thanks for any help I may receive.

I'm no '40 Ford expert but looks like a big truck grille I had for my '40 1 1/2 ton.

It appears to be an early aftermarket (or Argentina repro) for a 1939 Deluxe. Fabricated sheetmetal. Properly fit and straightened it could serve well on a street rod.

Looks like an old Argentina repo to me. '40 grilles were made of diecast metal, not stamped steel.

No, it is not Ford OEM.

New Old Stock 1940 Ford Standard and 1940-1941 Ford Pickup outer Grilles.
These Grille Pieces are Die Cast and fit either side of the centre Grille.

Weirdo, your grill is a 1939 Deluxe car ( 2 outer most bars are not full length) It is also missing the center bar. Poor fit made in Argentina. I have a genuine Ford one in my 1940 pickup,

51504Bat Your picture is upside down but is the Argentina copy of a 1940 small truck (outer bars are full length)

Picture #9 is the correct cast metal grill for 1940 but is missing the 4" wide center bar.
