If there is any question about the engine number being restamped, check the surface. The factory stamped the number on a cast raised pad that WASN"T surfaced or machined in any way. It should show the same texture as the cast around it.

I cut this original number from a totally junk block just to show as a good example of an original stamping.

Mine is believed to be a '31 and it has the '30 shell.

You think Henry Ford was going to let all of last year's parts go to waste?

My S/W 4dr. has the indented firewall and two piece aprons, an April '31 car. Color is very similar to Louis' coupe, my color is PPG brand #530, the darkest shade on the chart. We did it in base/clear nine years ago and it still looks like new.
