I was almost stuck under a '57 Bird dashboard...
trying to take it out without removing the steering wheel or column.
Thank you but it's my wife's fault.I know how you feel! Pulled the speedometer out of mine without pulling the seat. It's very tight under there.
That is one pretty dashboard. Is that parchment or white?
Thank you but it's my wife's fault. She wanted a yellow T-Bird with a white interior.
The catalogs call it white but it's probably more like Parchment or maybe a dark-ish version of Ivory. It's enough darker than the couple year old bright white paint on the lower dash that it bugs me, especially where the vinyl arm rests on the doors line up with the lower dash. I'll be repainting that metal to more closely match the vinyl.
You're right, it looks better in the photos. It could be the fluorescent lights in the garage. In natural light the white is a bit intense, I'm just going to tone it down a bit. The previous owner repainted it and may have used a slightly different color than original. As viewed by the picture which may not show the real look, the contrast between the dash pad and lower dash paint looks nice.
I have never understood why there is not more folks w/'54 & up FoMoCo products on here . There sure is over on The HAMB site !
