Introduction

Hi everybody,
I just registered as a new member of this forum.
My name is Charlie Saguier and I live in Buenos Aires, Argentina. I already had restored 2 Jeep Willys. One is a MB 1942 Slat Grill, and the other is a CJ-2A 1947.
My third challenge is restore a Ford Model A Roaster Pick Up 1928.
My first question to the forum members is ask which are the best Part List Manuals and where could I buy them.
I don't need originals issues, with new copies, I will work and start my restoration.
My second question is if could be possible to know which forum members has the same Model A in order to start asking about my thousand questions....
Many thanks in advance and I'm very happy to be a new member of this Model A forum.
Cheers,
Charlie Jeep Saguier

Hi Guys,
many thanks for your welcome !!!! Always is nice to know that you are not alone in this crazy hobby.
First I want to show my poor 1928 Model A, so please be free to tell me what is bad (I know for example it has the wrong steel wheels and of course the cage).

Well, after the introduction the first of many questions :
1.-Are these headlight buckets and rings correct for a 1928 model?
2.-Which color must be painted ? or are chromed?

The buckets look like the correct shape for 28-9 - they should be painted gloss black, with nickel plated rims.

Welcome Charlie I just (basicly) finished restoring my 28 roadster pickup see my avatar. and on my photo album page is what i started out with if you have any questions feel free to message me.

Welcome Charlie.

Here are 2 books that I would recommend to start. With these you can learn to do about any repair.

Les Andrews Mechanics Handbook #1 http://www.snydersantiqueauto.com/2167

Model A ford service bulletins complete.

Here are some good parts vendors with free catalogs that have many good parts breakdowns.

Good luck,I just got my Tudor running today after winter repairs.

Hi, many thanks for your comments and tips. I really appreciate them.
What can you say about the headlights rings ?
Are they the corrects for a July 1928 ?
Pickuppain, thanks for your message. How can I see your photo album ? Do you have any link ? Cheers, Charlie

Hi,
I found a rear light and a part of a bracket for it. I guess both are original. Are in the market a place where could I find a new bracket and all the internal rear light parts ?

Welcome Charlie . These guys are a good bunch and the parts houses offer generally very good and in my opinion reasonably priced parts. If you wanting to return everything to as original that to is possible but more expensive . Just remember that (as I assume your car is RHD like mine ) there are some differences between LHD and RHD parts in some areas -some are obvious but some not so (eg tail lamp stalks are different as are bumper clamps) . The MAFCA Judging standards are a great start -Karl

Hi Karl,
thanks for you comments. You are right, my car is RHD because in Argentina, till 1950's (I guess) the traffic was like in England. Subway and Trains continue like that.
Cheers,
Charlie

Hi Guys.
I continue with my 28 Pick-up Roadster restoration and questions appears every minute.
Could someone post a photo or drawing of a 1928 firewall ? I want to check which holes are correct and which aren't.
I'm trying also to see how is the correct rear interior mirror for a 28 Pick-up Roadster.
Many thanks in advance for your help.
Cheers,
Charlie

Yoy need the MARC-MAFCA judging and restoration standards and parts catalogs from the major Model A parts suppliers like Brattons, Macs, and Snyders. Questions will be answered here on the Barn.

I would recommend you join your local Model A club [ Club Amigos de Model A ?] which must exist as there are still a lot of Model A's in Argentina.
Are you sure your car is genuine open pickup or a cut down Phaeton? That happened a lot here, but they can still can be saved as nice driving cars. Good luck.
