Intro section?

Hi all. I've been on the HAMB for a while and finally made my way over here. Those guys are kinda sticklers for introducing yourself to the gang but I don't notice that over here. I'm gonna do an informal intro anyway just because I like it.
My names Greg, I'm a husband, father of twin boys, a Chef and a born car guy. All of the guys in my family have been car guys since there have been cars. Mom and Dad drove away from their wedding in an early T roadster that Dad restored in the 60s. Dad recently passed and it appears I will be inheriting his car collection. He was really into early cars and big luxury cars- a couple Pierce Arrows and a brass Cole, but he also had a Ford A sedan. I forget at the moment if it's a 28 or 29.. It's currently half restored and I'm quite certain I'll get to really appreciate the knowledge here at the barn.
Grandpa ran a wrecking yard with my uncle, my great uncle had a gas station from the 30-50s. My twins are almost 5 and they are already hopelessly addicted to cars.
Thanks for the forum and I'm looking forward to learning about the old Fords. Greg

Hello and Welcome.
Your background is similar to a lot of us. I grew up in a Garage where we were pretty much the only game in a one horse town. Owned by my Grandfather, then my Father. The Highway cut the town off the map in 1968 so the business was about done by 72. I also have a set of twins in my mix of 6 kids. They are grown, my Son is a Chef and becoming a pretty good wrench.

Look forward to photos of your "fleet". What state are you in?

Thanks Qgolden. You're right, all sounds pretty familiar huh? I'll update my profile and get pics up too but I live in the high desert of central Washington state near Yakima. It's going to be quite a change around here soon. I've mostly been into muscle cars and early Porsche but Dads usually called anything that new- just a "used car". He was quite a talented guy and did pretty much all of his restorations himself.

Welcome to the barn!!!
Always glad to have a new guy join.
Where are you located?

Cool, My Daughter #2 is in Bremerton with her husband, Daughter #3 is in Silverdale, and my Son (1/2 of the twins) is in Silverdale. I'll be out there myself next week, just for a couple of days.

Hers's a good pic of Dad and one of the Pierce Arrows he did. I think I have a snap shot of his '41 Buick convertible too. If so I'll tag it on as well. I'm pretty sure I don't have any of the A at the moment though.
Q- sounds like a great way to spend Thanksgiving. Naval Base Kitsap by chance? Travel safe.

You should consider coming over to Puyallup, WA in mid July. The Model A Ford Club is having their national convention and there will hundreds of Model As to see. There will be a swap meet on Monday July 14th. Good place to see what the hobby is all about.

I too have been on the HAMB and have recently started coming over here. I would love to see a pic of the Cole. Brass era cars are some of my favorites.

Welcome to The Barn, I spend a lot more time on the HAMB, but the Barn has become a lot more friendly lately. That Cole sounds like a great car. Love that avitar. Bob

You shouldnt have mentioned you hang out on the HAMB, now you have two strikes against you.:D
Lots of knowledge here, Welcome!
Sorry about the loss of your Dad, but he looked like he enjoyed his old cars, and I'm sure he had hopes you will enjoy them too.
Good Luck with the old Ford.:)

Welcome, it is always heart warming to see cars travel down through a family mayby the twins will be taking care of them some day. Sorry for your loss, good luck and come back often. Phil

Thanks Guys- I really appreciate the warm welcome and comments. Dad really did enjoy the cars and probably just as much, the car people. I remember when he bought this Model A it wasn't really for the car. He said he bought it because all his buddies were in the local Ford club and he wanted to hang out with them.
Seems to be a lot of interest in pics of the Cole. I had never heard of the marque before this car. The twins especially like it because of the horn. One will wait until the other is distracted and then scare the heck out of the other with it. If i understand correctly, Cole merged with or was bought by Studebaker sometime in the mid teens? It's an open touring car that is an older restoration.
I came across a couple quick pics of his '24 Olds touring that Dad said he thought was fairly rare. Despite Olds being an early company he said he couldn't recall coming across another car like this one. It is the other unfinished car along with the "A". The chassis, drivetrain, brakes, etc are done on it and it needs the shiny side finished now. With Dad's projects added to mine I have a feeling I won't get bored anytime soon!
If any of you fellas are in the area, let me know- I love to chat with car folks too. Maybe putt around in a brass Cole or something?

I really like that little silver German car too. Drool drool drool!!!! I have a 24 Dodge also. Like that Olds it looks very similar.

Yeah, the lil German I've had for about 25 years- but Dads collection includes a Porsche "B" Roadster that he restored in the late 80s. They're fun for sure.

Do you need someone to help keep all those batteries charged?:):)
I'm only a days drive away. I would be happy to help.
Very nice collection. Keep them going, make pops proud!!!

welcome to this forum, and to the wonderful world of Model A Fords. I take care of a 41 Buick Century convertible, a 38 Roadmaster phaeton as well as a Pierce, Packards, Paige, Mercer, Reo, Jeffrey, Studebakers, Lincolns, and I have driven them, but they're customers cars, not mine.. I drive 3 Ford A's and a 27 Buick. Got my first A in 1972 and have had at least one every year since. Without a doubt, the Ford is the car I would jump in and drive across the country any time. They're dependable, economical, easy to repair and parts are easy to find. These little cars are addicting. You'll have a blast with them. I have a Cole hood ornament, the propeller, in my ornament collection. I've only seen one Cole, it was a big brass car and quite impressive.
