Interesting "Fix" for M.A.R.C. Insurance Problems

I must say 'hats off' to Mark Maron and the Illinois region MARC. They're considering (voting) on becoming a dual club, a MAFCA chapter as well. End of insurance problem.

I wonder if any MARC regions might consider just jumping ship, becoming MAFCA and just dropping MARC.

If this doesn't make MARC Wake Up I don't know what will.

I am active in the Early ford V8 Club and I see this issue manifesting itself to other clubs before it is over. I am watching closely. I think what they have done is only a temporary solution.

Thank you for that Mike.....

The Wichita A's are dual members. We made application to MAFCA for swap meet insurance. They turned us down too. Said event is too big. We'll just get our own and forget about it. There comes a time when you have to choose your battles.

Hi John,
Good to hear from you again on this subject. I guess you are right the national clubs are putting a limit on our activities. :mad:If each region/chapter goes out and buys a policy it will cost thousands more than if we do it as a group. Let's do the math. 180 regions x$500 = $90,000.
Compared to the $8000 we spend with MARC as a group.:(
If this is the direction we have to go in then the National has dropped our ball. We came together as a group over 35 years ago and have never had even one law suit. Why are we being penalized? Because MAFCA had a accident and it involved a golf cart. Why don't we outlaw golf carts? Or at least make sure they are covered by their own policy.
I know you and I have discussed this before, Good Luck with your parts swap.
Be careful we all know how dangerous those parts swaps can be!! Ha ha!
And car shows.... recently a guy fell out of his lawn chair, gotta be careful.

I'm reading the FAQ section of MAFCA and they seem to have the samt type of policy as MARC FAQ

Here is the policy information; POLICY. It too states that "
A. Approved Events: There are three types of approved events.
a. Events sanctioned by MAFCA where all registered participants are MAFCA members.
Examples of these are National Conventions and Annual Membership Meetings.
b. Events hosted by Chapters, Regions, and Special Interest Groups where liability
insurance is required for meeting rooms, dinner banquet halls or other non-automobile
activities. Also included are co-hosted events where each host has a minimum of
$1,000,000 per occurrence general liability insurance.
c. Events hosted by Chapters, Regions, and Special Interest Groups where liability
insurance is required for safe automobile activities such as gymkhanas (car games),
Model A displays and MAFCA only swap meets.

It is almost word for word the MARC policy.
