Interesting Cylinder head...

So i bought this cylinder head at a swapmeet this past weekend. They pulled it to replace it with a synder head, so i bought it to replace my cracked head. So as i was working on pulling my head, i noticed some differences. Mainly, the head i bought has a casting date of 6-11-43 and has MADE USA on it and other interesting marks. Anybody know what this is?

It appears to be a stock replacement head. I've had and seen several over the years. I'm not sure how long Ford made replacement heads. Does this have Ford anywhere on it?

During the late 30's and late 40's lots of people made heads for Model A's. This is probably because antifreeze was hard to get and not as good as today's so lots of heads were cracked. Some were good heads and some were not so good. Yours is an aftermarket head and probably just a marginal head but will work. I have several of these with the date and made in usa on them. Some have lines where the casting boxes were mismatched and some look pretty good. The worst problem I ever had with one is the chambers were too small and broke a valve in a motor with the oversize intakes. Still, it will work fine on a stock motor as a replacement. Have it re-surfaced before using it.
