Interesting block stamp

I moved a couple of engines from my Dad's to my shop and one of them was from our German 35. I am not sure that it is "original" to the car OR not but I was doing some work on it and noticed a part#48-2001264 stamped in the deck of the block, left side, rear section. Never seen that before.

Some territories required a number on the motor. Maybe Germany, or the home state within Germany of that vehicle required one.

I would have expected the engine foundry number i.e. 18-####### for that?

The French blocks original to the car were stamped along with the chassis and transmission, all matching .The firewall Data tag also.

Agree with Coop but the model 48 is the designation for the 1935 Ford so it was used for the part number prefix because a lot of the parts changed for 1935. I don't think I've every seen it used for a VIN though but have seen it used on the body tag.
