I agree with Tony
When flatheads were running on the local dirt ovals lots of tracks had a few rules about heads one rule was stock aluminum heads allowed another no finned aluminum heads. So to get around that rule lots of heads had there fines machined off. Edlebrock heads were typically used with no fins certainly look close to stock so they meet the intent of the rule.

I don't think they look "as cast". Just years worth of sitting on a shelf and/or perhaps a media blasting.

Boy, they sure look right out of the foundry to me. I have a set of C8BA aluminum heads (one is NOS) that look a lot like that to me.

I think they have been blasted. The spot facing for the studs has the same texture as the rest of the heads. They should be shinny.

I kind of like them . . . and would polish them up! They'll need to be redomed and one wonders why only one head was decked? I'm always suspicious when I see partially done machine work!

Various blasting media, cheap Dollar Store oven cleaner, scotchbrite pads, etc. A bunch of tricks to make aluminum look different or how you'd like it too.

And then there's the cheap Harbor Freight needle scaler, If you havent used a needle scaler to make stuff look like it was cast, then you're missing out.
