Interchange question 429 into a '72 Ranchero, etc...

I have a question about interchange, and chassis components...

Car #1 is a 1970 (LTD) Country Squire wagon with a warmed-up (original) 429/C6, low miles, mechanically great shape. A drunk driver lightly wiped across the front, but I have all the parts to fix.

Car #2 is a 1972 (Torino) Ranchero GT with a propane 351C/2v that has been run in years, but low miles on the truck, and cosmetically good shape.

You can probably see where I'm going here. I'm wondering what, if any of the mechanical underpinnings would interchange, and how big a deal it would be to swap the 429 into the Ranchero, because it's a helluva runner.

Can anyone shed some light on this for me? Trying to decide whether to fix or part out the wagon, and what I should plan to keep for the Ranchero.

A buddy of mine has a 70-71 Torino that he put a 429/460 engine in. Looks like it came from the factory with it. Go for it.

What about other chassis components? I haven't measured, but the bolt circle on the wheels looks to be 4 1/2", rather than the 5" on the later LTD's and Lincolns.

Any interchange with the brakes, etc? Sorry, not well versed in Fords of this era.

Four and a half inch wheels will be fine, buy good tires. The brakes can be upgraded in more than one way. Big aftermarket discs, better quality shoes in the rear, a HD sway bar in front, new front springs may help too.

the engine will fit but to do it right you need mounts from a torino style body with 429.big fords were different.
