Interchangable Ford pick up hoods

Cab was pretty much the same in '40-41. I have seen pics of a jailbar truck with a complete '40 nose/grille, but not really easy for that job. The track width of the trucks got 2.5" wider in '42 and that weighs into swaps. But '40 hood alone should fit just fine.

More issues than just what Gary noted... 2" longer wheelbase, cab mounts higher in relation to running boards and fenders... Anyone reading this that wants to consider putting 1940-41 fenders/hood should consider only keeping the 1942-47 cab and bed sides, everything else (frame included) should be 1940-41 or the project goes from a can of worms to a bucket of snakes.

This is flawless advice.

I made an attempt at it once, and I could not make it look right enough even for ME! So, ya I get it.

The 41 pickup started out pretty close to the 40 pickup but changed for the front crossmember that would fit the G-series inline 6. The 42 model year was all new for pickups. When the pickup line started back up in 45, they started up pretty much where they left off. There weren't a lot of changes through the end of 1947 when the new 1948 F1 with the first 8BA came on line.

I entered this in the wrong thread. SEE the frame thread.
