Intake manifolds

I have two intakes manifolds one has a short stand for generaton and one has a tall stand ,and they both have a hole in top wjere carb mounts .is the hole normal? Which is the tall and which is short for. Thanks dp. The fp mount is same for both.

I presume the hole you describe is a vacuum port for the wipers. Also can be used for Columbia overdrive switching.

Ford went to a very low generator stud about '37-9, with a shorter fanbelt.
If the hole is at front center of carburetor pad, you have I think iron manifolds from the Stromberg years. The hole on them gives exhaust heat from the crossover directly to the bottom of the car...and it will neatly fry the power valve if you go to a Ford/Holley carb without plugging it!

A couple of pic migfht help.. 2 aliuminum and one cast iron

Iron one is '41-48 type, 1936 type high aluminum, 1937 type low aluminum. I think the high of that style was also used in much of 1935, and I think the '37 type ran through 1938, maybe '39. Total gen height and length of fanbelt are affected.

Thanks, Jerry, How I know what to look for since mine is burned out from the exhaust ports.

I have a spare similiar to your 37 pictured, but has an S in a circle on the long flat front plane. What is that from??
