Insurance ??

I know that most have thousands of $$s before your car/truck is ready for the road.
At what point during the build do you insure your current project. When it's ready for the road? After the start or somewhere in the middle

I use Grundy and establish a beginning value as a project car and add to it as the project shows progress. I document it with photos and receipts as needed.

I got "under construction" insurance ASAP after buying the car. This protects it if at a shop that doesn't carry insurance for customer cars. I think some company requirements are different from others, such as, car must have an engine and cannot be a "basket case".

Good topic 39STD. I don't normally insure a vehicle until it's about ready for the road. I'm insured with Grundy. Does anyone know if they will insure a work in progress?

Think of what can happen and make sure you are covered. If it catches fire in the garage, is it under your fire insurance. Sometimes it needs a rider. Same thing for theft.

When I purchase a car or project its insurable for value and as time passes its value increases so you won't have any problem having it insured while under construction. Most classic car insurance issued has fire-theft collision ect. I see no reason not to insure it in the event you have a loss.
