Inner Cap U-Joint

We are working on putting the F150 conversion transmission in our Coupe. Got ready to drop it in and hook up the u-joint and so on, when we noticed the inner cap has 2 holes in it. Here's the question: Do the 2 holes go at 6 & 12 o'clock or 3 & 9 o'clock ? The inner cap has new gaskets installed today.

Thank you for your replies, I appreciate it.
Jim Parker, yes we had the rear end, transmission and engine out of the car sitting on blocks. Got the rear end, pinion gear, shortened rear radius rods and shortened torque tube changed and installed on Monday. Today installed F150 transmission ( Ken Parker ) and engine, thank goodness. Hopefully, will have it running by this weekend.

Interesting about the inner holes correct positioning. Can someone explain why they need to be at the 3 and 9 position and if not what problems does it cause? Thanks, as I am not positive how mine are positioned.

My guess is that it has something to do with oil leaking out of the transmission through the rear ball bearing on the main shaft. The oil will collect in the inner cup where the grease for the U-joint is located. The excess oil has some place to go when it reaches the 3 and 9 position. Maybe to provide lubrication for the contact areas of the inner cap and the outer caps as there is some movement between them.
