I have an upright magneto on top of my B engine. As you T guys probably know, the mag needs to be grounded to stop engine when running.
I found out that it is not a good practice to take hold of the bare end of grounding wire  !
Hands too shaky to put the ground on quickly.
Can anyone recommend a good source for an old time type kill/ground switch for this job ? Anyone have any such switch that I can buy from you

Any switch will work. One lead to the mag stop post & the other to ground. I have a Buick with a magneto & the stop switch is a push button starter switch - you push & hold the button to stop the car. That way you cannot forget to turn it back on to start again.

Hey Jack,
Wow, great help and information :) !
Does such a switch have to have a certain amount of capacity (ohms/what)?

The switch would be grounding the low tension side of the magneto. Any regular automotive switch should do fine. The switch on my Buick looks to be a starter button intended for an inboard boat.

Often a key switch is used for security.

The shock you received was likely feedback of sorts caused by your body not being a true ground.

You just need to re - wire your ignition switch to control a normally closed relay that grounds the magneto when power is off. eBay is a good place to find a normally closed 12 volt relay.
