Inferiority Complex

Hey Louis. When I restored my car the transmission was something I never wanted to deal with. Scared that bad stuff out of me too. But, after I blew 1st and reverse and drove it as long as I could stand it without those two gears I knew there was no alternative and bought the book and tore into it. Seemed much simpler once I got into it and did it OK. And I'm an attorney:eek:, way below IT guys. :) You're way ahead of me if you can weld, shape metal, and engines. That's still beyond me.

I guess I am not a youngin anymore at the age of 41 but these old engines fascinate me. I ask a lot of dumb questions but I am learning a lot too. Looking forward to my first flatty rebuild. Oh and as far as genes, my dad can barely change his own oil and I am an IT guy. I have taught myself to weld, shape metal and now engines. (though transmission still scare the 'ell out of me) If I can do it I am sure anyone can.

Thanks,

Oh shoot… I am at least 10 years behind. I am 51…..:o

Went out to get my head today, stayed an hour and a half listening to my machinist and a friend of his talk. The stuff they bought and sold in their life would make you cry…. like I said, this thread is NOT about how unworthy I am.

It is just envy for what these guys did and lived.

I am just glad all these guys with the experience, knowledge and stories on here are willing to share.

Thanks,
