I haven't had my car long, but it's always ran hot. I had the original radiator in it, so it didn't surprise me. Since summers can be pretty brutal out here, I decided I needed the best radiator I could get. Thanks to searching Ford Barn, I found Bergs Radiator. They had a unit in stock and shipped it quickly. The radiator itself is very well made. I noticed that they put a gusset plate in the corners of the core where the tubes meet the header sheet, Since that's where radiators always leak first, I assume this radiator will outlast me. Workmanship is very nice as well. I worked in a radiator shop for a few years after high school, and I can see the craftsmanship on this one is awesome. It was literally a drop in replacement, everything lined up as it should.
I just took the car out for a drive and am impressed. It's in the low 70's tonight, and I could always expect to see temperatures in the 190-200 degree range as measured with my infrared temp gun. With the Berg radiator I was seeing a temp of 147F! It's not a very scientific observation but it is clearly much cooler than before. The real test is going to be when it's 115F outside.
It wasn't the cheapest radiator on the market, but it's a lot cheaper than a new engine. I'm very happy and will recommend Berg's from now on.
