Ignitions switch and speedo service question

I have an ignition switch from a 51 Mercury but it doesn't have a key. Any advice on whether or not a key can be made for it who performs this service?

On a cold October morning my speedometer broke so I also need a recommendation on fixing that.
Thanks

A good lock & key man should be able to make a key or rekey just about any kind of lock. Single row tumblers are the easiest ones. You may have to purchase a key blank if you want an original type key.

On the speedo, I'd say either look for another one on e-pay (you can use it if it works or use it for parts to fix yours) or send it to a speedometer restoration shop. You might check on Hemmings or Google for services. I usually do my own speedo work but I haven't tried to work on a 50/51 Merc instrument yet. I see them on e-pay now and then.

maybe it's just the inner cable on your speedo. unscrew the cable from the back of the speedo. then pull out the inner cable and see if it is in one piece or broken.

On a cold October morning, the grease on the speedo was probably like mud and the cable may have twisted and broke. Pull the cable, inspect, and pull the speedometer.
You should lube the speedo with some penetrating oil to loosen up the old grease.
