Ignition Timing Y Blocks

Tim's y block page has a neat thing on

blueprinting your ignition timing.

he did leave out one thing.

you have to make sure your

taking distributor out and putting it

back in when engine is on TDC #1 cylinder

not TDC 4 cylinders away.

crankshaft rotates twice to fire all eight cylinders.

let me put it this way.

if your going to pull the distributor out and

put it back in a couple times

to do Tim's distributor tricks

you might want to make sure you set the

timing again at TDC #1 not 4 cyl off.

Most yblock cams set the engine to #6 firing when you time by the timing marks. It was a little trick the engineers did to keep you on your toes. Once you have been caught you never get caught again.

i just don't know how the y block is put together.
