That's a '57 to '59 Y-block distributor. ..Is the carburetor on the engine something from '56?

The points and other tune-up parts (cap, rotor) could be the same from '57 thru approx the early/middle 70's.
Don't change the condenser unless you know it's bad. The replacement (off-shore/reproduction) condensers are often worse than the one you have.

If you're changing the points, the lobes where the wiper block rubs needs a small dab of points grease.
The round black plate the points & condenser are mounted to has a circle of ball bearings under it that allow it to rotate. If it doesn't rotate it needs to be removed, cleaned, lightly lubricated and reinstalled.
Applying suction to the line into the vacuum canister should turn the round black points plate approx 1/4 to maybe 3/8 inch. That's one of the two ways it advances the timing.

Where the connection from the Ign coil passes thru the distributor housing check that the insulation isn't failing.
There should also be a 'Ground' wire from the points plate to the distributor housing. I think I'm seeing one running behind the condenser in your photos.

thank you very mutch dmsfrr i don't know if my carburetor is from 56 ....i'll take a pic later and i'll post here
the car come from ontario canada maybe it's late 56

I probably can't ID the year of the carb (someone else here likely can)
but there's a reason I mentioned it...
'56 was the last year for the Load-o-matic distributors and the carburetors with vacuum ports that matched them.
Ford upgraded the distributors and carburetors to different versions for '57. If yours are mis-matched ('56 vs '57+) it's important to make sure the timing is advancing properly.

If you're '56 came with a 4 barrel carb when new, it was a Holley 4000 (teapot). It was also unique for '56 only. Different from the Holley 4000 used in '55, in that it had the choke assembly attached to the carb instead of the manifold. Like dmsffr said, it was the last year of the Loadomatic distributor with vacuum only advance.

if you post the point set number and manufacturer.you received it may help also.as ford used the same points for years.example 55-56 were the same as 65-67 also 58-64 and 68-95 except 87 which was the same as 55-56 oddly according to ford QRC

here's my carburetor, is it from 56 or 57?

You can run that carb with the later distributor if you do not connect the vacuum line between the carb and distributor. You must plug the cab opening where the vacuum line goes. Plugs are available from Holley or places like Jegs or Summitt.

The car will run ok with just the centrifical advance but gas mileage may suffer a little.

Do as paul2748 said, and then find a spot where you can get manifold vacuum and run a hose to the distributor advance diaphragm. Since it's a '57 and later distributor, it's made to see manifold vacuum. You should see an increase in fuel economy when at a steady speed.
