ignition coil

Anyone know if a 65 mustang coil uses 12 volt or is there a ballast resistor in circuit. I am looking for a ford coil that will work on 12 volt with no resistor

you were told right, they make an internally resisted coil, kragens, auto zone, pep boys all carry them

The Mustang uses a resister 1.35 ohms ICR10 orICR11 at napa.
Foreign cars with 12 volts thur 69 like vw needs NO resister.

Mustang has a resistor wire in the circuit. Pink in color, even has a different feel to it because it must be heat resistant.

its usually just as cheap to buy the resisted coil, with the resister hanging on the out side of the coil is just one more thing that can get broken,

I would suggest the Bosch Blue ignition coil , no resistor needed and has a working resistance of 3-4 ohms.
We also sell a 3-4 ohms coil as well if you cant find a Bosch unit locally......

Don't most high performance coils have less resistance then the original coil? Made to work with electronic dizzys.
