I have a 1933/34 rear end.I am trying to figure out what the final ratio is.
The numbers that i found on the bottom of the rear end is a (4 3) The three is backwards. Does any body have any ideas?

The numbers are stamped on the rib going from the main housing to the pinion part.Sometimes they are filled with rust and dirt. You can take a knife and scrape the area and rub with chalk to make the stampings stand out.

Need to see a picture. Is it out of the car?Click on the paper clip icon when you post a thread to add pics. How are the radius rods attached? On the housing or on the backing plate flange? 32 -36 are on the housing.Bracket on 32's are perpendicular to housing,33-34's are angled - both have 2 holes on each bracket on the underside to attach the radius rods.35-36 different. It could also be that the R&P was changed to 3.78 (9-34) which is a lot of work. You could count the revolutions when you turn the drum and see how many times the driveshaft turns per revolution.

The rearend is out of a truck.BAsed on your information it is either a 33 or 34.I just tried countinh the revolutions. I think it either a 4-11 or 4-33.Maybe the 3-4 that is marked in the rib indicates 4-33's.

No such thing as 4.33.Most 33-34's were 4.11.3.54's were an option or dealer installed. Those were the only gears Ford had in 33-34. Ford had 4.44 but that came out later and used with the V8 60's.

I just took apart a 33-34 rear end and the r/p is 9-39 stamped on both the ring and the pinion. It is a small bearing rearend so I know it is 33-34. 9-39 equals 4:33.

Thank you for responding.I just started to take the rear end apart tonight.I will look to see if the 9-39 is stamped on the r/p.I just bought a set of 3.54 gears. My next project is to attemp to switch the gears.Any suggestions?
