Is anyone able to identify this steel trunk? Who made it and when?
What would the original color have been, same as the car?
Correct interior materials, colors, and structures?

Hi there... Looks like a Potter Trunk. Tip to me are the Eagle Locks. I've been trying to locate those locks for years as my curved back Potter trunk that had them removed. There should have been a potter label adhered to the inside of the lid originally.

Though there were many manufacturers of trunks for the Ford Model A, yours appears to be a Standard "Potter All Steal Luggage Trunk" for a Coupe, Roadster, Sport Coupe, Cabriolet, etc (non-sedan).

Among several small details, the Deluxe Potter trunks had vertical moulding bands at each latch; the Standard Potter Trunks had no moldings.

Potter Trunks for sedans had a slightly contoured back to parallel the back of the sedan.

Here is the 1929 Potter Trunk for Fords catalog:

544339

Here is a different 1929 Potter Trunk flier:

544337

As you can see there were many options. Potter Trunks were supplied standard in black baked enamel but could also be furnished in body color with the metal moulding strips either unpainted or painted to match the moulding of the car.

Hope that helps,
Brad in Maryland
