Jeff - Judging by the depth of the headlight, I am saying it is for the '30 - '31 cars.

The '28 - '29 reflectors were deeper.

Others may have more info than me.

I should have said straight across between the headlight buckets - not on the ends. The ends outboard of the buckets curve down about the same as the '30-'31's.

'28 and '29 Headlights are Nickle plated except commercials and '30 / '31's are stainless except commercial which are painted.

28 29 Headlights are pointed like a young girl, 30 31 are rounder like an older gal, Both just fine in my book.

There is one other light bar,the early '30. It has the same curve as the common 30-31 but between the lights it is an inverted "U" channel with two slots for the lic. plate. It went out with the eyebrow fenders.

Dave,
The "Restoration Guidelines & Judging Standards" page 18-2 says: "A pressed steel/forged bar with two slotted holes for the license plate bolts was introduced in May 1930 and discontinued in September 1930 when it reverted to a round, forged design. Either design is acceptable during the period." Page 13-4 says: "Some early 1930 fenders had an "eyebrow" at the front fender peak, which extended from the outside edge bed. This feature was discontinued by February 1930."

With those two statements, it can be concluded that a car with eyebrow would not have been produced with the stamped steel headlamp bar.

My original September 1930 Town Sedan had a pressed steel headlamp bar.

The additional change was the redesigned horn bracket. Announced in the Apr 1930 service bulletin for use with the pressed steel bar. Even if the start date was April, still well after the eyebrow was discontinued.
