That's a big sucker; probably a "double-action" out of a Mercury with help for the wipers.

I have one on the shelf, but have never used it because my "Do Double-Action pumps cause more wear" question on this forum was never satisfactorily answered.

I have gotten good at getting off the accelerator and timing my shifts going up hills during rainstorms, though.

Thanks much Tubman. It’s NOS in perfect condition and I’m sure someone could use it.
Cheers.

That is the larger version of the fuel pump types with eight fasteners holding things together. Ford and Mercury sized pumps use six fasteners. That may be a 337 Lincoln fuel pump, all the 337 Lincoln engines except stationary engines used double action fuel pumps.

There were early and late versions used from 1948 through 1953 for L-head V8 vehicles (including bonus built trucks). Several manufacturers made the dual action pumps for availability to most auto manufacturers that still used vacuum wipers. The 1949 and early 50 Mercury cars used the first type and the late 50 through 53 used the late type pumps.

Both of my early 51 Mercury cars came with the single action pump due to the low rainfall amounts in the great plains states. Both cars were assembled in St Louis, MO. One was delivered to Clovis, NM and the other to Garden City, KS.
