Before leaving the MARC national meet at Oshkosh, I paid a visit to the air museun to see the many beautiful planes. This is just a few of the many old planes on display. I thought the Stits was a joke until I read the sign. They also have many hands on exhibits the kids would enjoy. I tried the man powered exhibit and got to 15 just for a couple seconds. I don't think that could get me airborn.:D

Someday I'd like to go to the big Oshkosh flyin to see all the planes.

I thought it was terrific that two Model A Pietenpols were there at Pioneer Park for flight demos. Many that I talked to were amazed that the Model A engines did so well in an airplane. Gar Williams

I wanted to see that, but missed it. Do they sound anything like a Model A car?

Hey Tom,nice pics. Oshkosh is on my bucket list. B.Pietenpol's story is an interesting one for those that don't know it.(sorry for no link, try wiki). A friend took his Piet out to Oshkosh several years ago. Although it is a 2 seater, it's climb rate with just the pilot is only about 300 ft.per min. with the A engine.

If you want to really see the Pietenpols up close and personal, go to the Broadhead, WI fly-in. I got a ride in one, simply by being 6' 4" tall. The owner wanted to brag to others how a "tall guy" could climb in/out of his plane easily. Yes, they sound like an A, and there is nothing in this world like flying at 300' over the green wisconsin fields in a flying model A. My kids are only 8 & 4 yrs, but when they are grown up, I am going to get myself a Petenpol AirCamper.

Tom, If you make it out west, the Air and Space Museum in McMinnville, Oregon is WELL worth the stop. Spruce Goose, SR-71, Titan missile, tanks and much more. Great stop for kids too!

Tom, you have a great look that is why the EAA Museum tried to copy it and even Trane Air Conditioners tries to do the same. I wish that I was photogenic...
