I put Float-a-Motor mounts on my Town Sedan

Now I have a couple of questions, and I'm wondering if any of you that have put in Float-a-Motor mounts experienced either of these issues:

1. The starter rod doesn't line up directly with the shaft on the starter switch. It seems that the engine sits a bit higher than it did with the original motor mounts. I didn't change the front mount.
My issue here is that the angle of the engine may be shifted and I'm concerned how that might effect the flow of oil in the engine.

2. the holes in the Float-a_Motor part that bolts to the flywheel housing didn't line up exactly. If I put the upper bolt in, the lower hole in the mount was off about 1/16th" or so. Not a big problem as I filed off a bit of the bottom of the lower hole in the mount till it lined up enough to be attached to the flywheel housing.

Interestingly, the top of the Float-a-Motor doesn't touch the lip of the flywheel housing - there's a little gap between them. I don't know if this is going to be a problem. I've noticed the same situation on another car using these mounts.

What do you guys think?
Thanks for your comments.

Sounds like you should have filed the top of the top hole, instead of the bottom of the bottom hole, then both problems would be solved.

Why are you changing to float-a-motor mounts?

Make sure you got the floaters on right there is a up and down, i got rid of mine after reading some post on this can not tell the difference

I recall some talk about maybe needing to trim the rubber bisquits, but I wouldn't do it until you get something more to go on than one old guy's recall of a rumor. A little frame-sag might make them work out just right.

1. I had the same situation. The effect on oil flow won't matter if the situation is remedied and, if not, should be insignificant or minimal at least.

2. Be sure the engine brackets are right side up. File the housing bolt holes to eliminate the gap between the bracket and the housing lip.

Once step 2 is accomplished install the biscuits etc and TIGHTEN the center bolts for alignment. Check the biscuits for a slight bulge but do not smash them.

But not over tighten them, if you do you are forgoing the intend of the Float A Motors

Thanks for the comments. I knew I could count on you guys.

The brackets are on right side up - they're clearly marked.
I'll check the crank hole alignment and check into the possibility of filing the tops of the mount holes which will cause the engine to lower onto the mounts and rest on the flywheel housing lip. This should address both of my concerns. I don't know how I missed it, but it's good to know you guys got my back!
And I won't squash my bicuits!!
