I like ugly

If you don't mind the little bit of work, try a weekly wipe down with a bucket of water and 10% kerosene. This will soften the paint a like and shop all rusting. The rubber seals will stay soft as well. I lived in Hawaii and that was a fav trick to beat the salt air.

Wow, those fenders look just like mine did after I painted them the first time and obviously did something really wrong!!! I think my paint and primer sealer were not compatible.

I had a sunburned Dune buggy once. At sale time she got a weekly coat of 30 weight oil. Sold it under an argon streetlight. The sparkle blinded everyone...

If you use GIBBS OIL on your heavy patina, it will look great ! The only thing, is that you have to order it. Very few places carry it retail. It is about $20.00 per spray can, and it doesn't attract dust, like motor oil.
It is a favorite among antique motorcylist, for their barnfinds.
Google "GIBBS OIL".
MIKE :)

"Patina" is nice as well as smooth clean paint. They both serve their purpose in the eye of the beholder. It is only when the function of the car questions how picky you shall be!
