David Conwill Senior Member Jul 4, 2011 #1 For 1957 are the bellhousings interchangeable between the six-cylinder and V8 engines? Thanks, Dave
LukeDahlinger BANNED Jul 4, 2011 #3 The 6 cylinder bellhousing is shorter than the V-8 one. Also of note the truck and passenger car V-8 bellhousings are different.

David Conwill Senior Member Jul 4, 2011 #4 Thanks fellas. As far as the differences: Just shorter, or a different bolt pattern too? -Dave
Daves55Sedan Well-known member Jul 4, 2011 #5 The 223 I-block 6cyl bellhousing is smaller than the Y-Block bellhousing. The 6 has an 11 inch converter and the 8 has a 12 inch converter. Thus the bolt pattern is smaller on the 6 cyl bellhousing
