I don't understand why I keep getting "I am a human" box when I am already logged in. I am all for keeping scamsters out but this is getting tiresome. Is there a reason why the box keeps coming up many times when I refresh my browser even though I am already logged in. Are other members also getting this annoying screen?

Since entry for contribution is a matter of "logging in" - what exactly IS the point of a "humanity test?"

Bots with AI perhaps are getting better at setting up false log-ins - but what exactly do they hope to accomplish if they do?

Who knows - maybe a Bot can draw on the sum total of human knowledge and give a "right" answer to a query? I marvel sometimes at the "variety" of human opinion expressed herein.

I think it is a response to try to stop hackers and AI bots trolling the site for information that would be used by those Silicone Valley oligarcs tp answer questions from non forum members.
I recently read an article pointing out in clear terms that those guys are undermining democracy on Social media. This is a form of SM so I have no problem with the minor inconvenience.
That is my understanding of it but I'm sure Ryan will be able to give a definate answer.
 
Ryan explained everything in a thread a couple of day ago in the V8 forum:


"Hey guys, we are being nailed by bots... I tried to fight them off yesterday and the day before, but the FCC is funded better than I am.

In any case, we have a stop gap in place... Security pop up... and that will stay up until they get bored.

Sorry for the issues."
 
Who would have thought that one day, we’d complain about an extra mouse click and a couple of extra seconds. Here we are!

Im okay with it and appreciate the effort of the site owner.
 
Let's start a new forum. "I am not a human club"

Seriously, many sites are using the same start up page.
 
Rest assured that there is no one better than site owner Ryan at doing what needs to be done...and no more....to circumvent problems on his forums. If something is implemented you can damn well bet it needs to be. :)
 
The new forum, "I am not a human club" would be run by AI robots talking to AI robots. There are plenty of those already on the internet. I support Ryan.
 
I never sign out, so when I energize the app, the I’m checking to see if you’re a bot thing comes up and then within three seconds drops out and the site is there for me.

That’s what happens on my desktop, but my iPad asks me to check the box. Either way, a small inconvenience to get the benefit of the Barn. You rock, Ryan!
