An old dude(older than dirt/me:rolleyes:)has hydraulic brakes on his newly acquired and tired '30 model a coupe. Problem is that the hyd cyls need work /replacing,etc.. He took the front right apart..as a start, and cannot find a 'clip' and or how goes back together! He has no computer and needs help. Is there a schematic that someone can fax to me, and I can get to him...showing the parts/assembly of the old hyd brakes backing plate? Yeah, I'm guessing '40 brake stuff? felosky@sbcglobal.net

This is a page from Mac Van Pelt's website. If you go exploring there, you'll find all kinds of neat stuff!

Almost forgot... Shoe with long lining goes to the FRONT, short lining goes to the REAR! (Screwed this up last time I posted about brakes.) Large bore end of wheel cylinder also goes to the front.

Hey PeteVS,
Great stuff thanks much!
Yeah, I seem to remember something about the 'larger' shoe lining..going to the front: because the lining is larger to compensate/equalize the braking action....as the smaller lining is 'pulled into' the drum as it rotates forward and that the longer lining is 'pushed' away from the drum, but can somewhat equalize the braking force because it's larger. Probably just a pigment of my imagination ..or reading too much,eh!
