Hydraulic Brake Light Switch

I recently replaced the original brake light switch in my '53 Ford. The new one works, but it seems to require quite a bit of pressure on the pedal before the brake lights come on.

I remember there was a thread about this some time back, but most of it focused on replacing the hydraulic switch with a mechanical one that worked off the brake pedal arm. I don't want to do that.

I've tried bleeding the switch; no change.

Are there (were there) different hydraulic switches such as this one that had different operating pressures? I'd like to find a "softer" switch.

Supposed to be one of the features of the Ron Francis silicone fluid proof brake light switch, takes very little pressure to activate. This has been a good switch for me for about three years now.His website gets you to switches real quick.

I use the Harley switch with good luck, but I use a relay with it, as I have halogen 55 watt stop bulbs
