hutchins horn adjustment

Hi guys, I bought a hutchins repro horn or maybe a klaxon not sure and it adjust from the front. It has the diaphragm and a long all thread type screw with a lock nut going through it. I was wondering do i just loosen the jam nut and turn the all tread tighter to adjust the sound and then tighten jam nut back up. Looks like a real pain in the rear to me. I like the sparton adjustment a lot better. Thanks as always.

You figured that one out just right.

The problem is holding the center screw while tightening the surrounding nut. Best done with a "hollow socket wrench" or an offset special box similar (and larger) to a distributor wrench used in some models of cars.

Otherwise it will be "hunt & peck" and repeat again.

Be persistent...
