Hubcap Problem

Hey' thanks again guys. Now i'm leaning towards the 59 Sunburst Hubcap was of poor quality for the larger hubcap. I asked other guys who own 57 Fords with their larger hubcaps, they never had a problem with them coming off. Does anyone know who sells 14" trim rings that will fit the 14" stock rims ? I may be staying with the Dog Dish for now. The car is put away for the winter now, but may try the RTV in the spring.

I put 3 strips about 2 inches long . let set up overnight. they haven't come off in two years . Don't go overboard with the sealer.

same problem with a 53 ford I bent the prongs and used plastic tape on the rim works very well I also had trouble with the hubcap walking around the rin that is hard on the valve stems that also went away.

Thanks Mike and all who helped me with this problem. I'm glad there are people out there who understand our car and truck problems and the fixes ! Pat

Wow, Pat, what a stunning hardtop. That black on black is really the bees knees. Very cool, good luck with the sneaky caps. *Wagon Master*

Thanks Wagonmaster. The 59 Ford is mostly original, except for repaint I had done a few years ago,and the top was originally white. Still has the original 332 V-8 with Cruisematic ******, neither one opened,it still runs strong on 87 octain. But in the summertime on hot days when I get stopped in traffic,it seams to smoke from internal, not from oil. It doesn't burn any oil. It had 46K original miles when I got it 10 years ago, in that time I'm up to 64K miles on it now. It also had the original Gold,White, and Black interior, I had to replace the seats with original ABC covers. The original were ok, but the stitching came loose. Still has the original door panels, and still look new. The car has been garaged it's entire life. Have you ever had engine smoke from any of your cars, and how did you remedy it. I heard from a frien, that if you took a pcv setup from a 61 Ford V-8 you could set it up onto the 332 ? Let me know if you heard the same. Thanks for your input and reply, Pat. ps, if in your travels you happen to see a 1958 Ford Del Rio Wagon like the one I once owned, let me know.

Thanks jimvette I may wind up doing that. I might pick up a set of 14" Mustang Rims from the 60's and try it on them, That may only happen in the Spring when the weather gets warmer. Thanks agagin... Pat
