I have a 50 watt halogen bulb I want to install in the headlights instead of the two light incondesent bulbs. How do I use one wire( from the conduit) to connect to the halogen without using the headlight wire plugs? How do I ground this circuit? Thanks for your help in advance. Thanks, Ray Mayers in Duckroost.

The ground is through the headlight socket not the wiring. You could unsoldier the wires for the high beams at the light switch and remove the wiring. Also you will have to replace the light socket to accept a single filament bulb. You can cut and splice the remaining wire to the pigtail from your new sockets. Why not just buy the correct fitting halogen bulbs?? http://www.hirschauto.com/prodinfo.asp?number=BULB2

Humm

Sumtin to consider.

Improperly focused a bright light in the headlights can be MUCH more of a hazard then then poor light.

The very high output lamps with no focus will just flood light all over out front. This will blind any on coming cars. You also are just wasting light because it is going all over the place so you may not really be able to see much better. The light energy is lost to place you do not care about like the tops of trees.

On the other hand, you can spend a little money on the direct replacement bulbs from Australia. The just fit in place of the originals. Take the time to follow the focus procedures in the Ford service bulletins. Then be able to feel comfortable running 55 MPH on dark back roads all night long.

The Hirsch bulbs for the Model A are made in India and may not focus correctly. They filaments may be rotated and not in the correct position. This is based on a direct comparison of bulbs while talking with the Hirsch representative at Hershey. My brother and I explained the problem and we do not know if they are taking steps to fix the problem. Some of the other bulbs Hirsch was selling were the Aussy bulbs so check before you buy.

Hmmm, Let's see. Most of the guys around here only drive their A's in the summer time. Right now it doesn't get dark till around 9:30 - 10pm. Give it another month or two and it just doesn't get dark. So it's a rather mute problem whether the headlights are "focused" or not. However, you guys down in "the lower 48" don't have that luxury!:D

rpm,
i used single bulb reflector for mt halogens. the one thing that i found worked great ...was to run a ground from each headlamp..thru wire conduit to frame. excellent grounding, no bulb burning out due to faulty grd and super bright, easily focused headlights.

BTW..know of those guys that blind you with super white lights on their new cars/pocket rockets? well when i put the As high beams on them, they dim theirs...instead of ignoring:D
